The healthcare leaders have given a conclusive statement that the Surprise billing act 2022 does not address many of the concerns of the stakeholders. As highlighted by the HHS, private medical insurance policy holders are faced with exorbitant costs in terms of Surprise billing. From $1200 for services offered by Anesthesiologists to $2600 for surgical assistants, patients most often get unanticipated medical bills for out-of-network care. The new law is slated to protect patients from these unforeseen expenses.
No one should have to worry about going bankrupt after falling ill or seeking critical care. The report shows that despite some state efforts to tackle surprise medical bills, patients continue to experience exorbitant medical expenses due to lack of transparency and rules. The Biden-Harris Administration will continue implementing federal regulations from the No Surprises Act to not only protect the patients but also curb rising costs in health care.
