(Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation)
Focus:
The Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE) provides a rapid, patient-reported overall rating of joint function as a percentage of normal.
Relevant Survey:
- Body Part: Joint-Specific (e.g., Knee, Shoulder, Ankle)
- Area Of Focus: Joint Function, Pain, Post-Surgical Recovery
A validated PROM used across multiple joints, including shoulder, knee, and ankle.
Description:
The SANE asks patients: “How would you rate your [joint] today as a percentage of normal (0–100%)?” It is simple, quick, and highly correlated with multi-item PROMs, making it ideal for routine clinical follow-up and research where efficiency is critical.
Use Cases:
- Rapid functional assessment in outpatient clinics.
- Tracking recovery post-surgery or injury.
- Comparative studies across joints and treatments.
- Supplementing detailed PROMs for large cohorts.
