SEV
(Subjective Elbow Value)
Focus:
The Subjective Elbow Value (SEV) provides a simple, patient-reported global assessment of elbow function compared to a normal elbow.
Relevant Survey:
- Body Part: Elbow
- Area Of Focus: Elbow Function, Pain, Post-Surgical Recovery
A validated single-question PROM for elbow outcome measurement.
Description:
The SEV asks patients to rate their elbow as a percentage of normal (0% = worst possible, 100% = normal elbow). Despite its simplicity, it has been shown to correlate strongly with more detailed elbow PROMs, making it a practical tool for routine clinical use and large cohort studies.
Use Cases:
- Quick assessment of elbow function in clinic.
- Tracking recovery after elbow fracture or ligament repair.
- Monitoring outcomes after elbow arthroplasty.
- Research requiring large-scale, efficient outcome reporting.
- Supplementing detailed elbow PROMs for patient follow-up.
